    • June 2010: BLS becomes an SDL LSP Partner

      Business Language Services Ltd. (BLS) has recently joined forces with SDL Trados, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) technology solutions. As an SDL Language Service Provider Partner, we are now in a position to offer our customers the benefits of a streamlined service based on the most advanced translation technology on the market.

      Through this partnership we will undertake more specialised training to become fully SDL-certified, enabling us to accelerate the delivery of high-quality localised content to our customers and global markets.

    • June 2010: BLS wins tender with the Intellectual Property Office

      Business Language Services Ltd. (BLS) is delighted to see its contract for the provision of language training services with the Intellectual Property Office renewed.

      Following a successful proposal as part of an invitation to tender, BLS will deliver French, German, Spanish and Chinese conversational and business classes to members of staff at the Intellectual Property Office for two years, possibly four. Classes will resume in the summer. BLS has been providing group and one-to-one language classes at the Intellectual Property Office since 2005.

    • June 2010: BLS Provide Voiceovers for the 2010 FIFA Interactive World Cup

      Business Language Services Ltd.´s voice will soon be heard across the international football scene.

      As part of the World Cup taking place in South Africa this year, FIFA organised its 6th Interactive World Cup (FIWC) in 2010. The winner of this virtual video game football tournament gets the chance to take part in the FIFA World Player Gala, where they will see international footballers in the flesh.

      During the 2010 World Cup, a promotional video clip introducing the Interactive World Cup will be played before some of the football matches broadcast on giant screens, in major cities all around the world. BLS are very proud to have provided translations and voice-over artists for this exciting event.

      Recording took place on 1 June 2010 at Boomerang, a Cardiff-based company specialised in programmes for television, radio and the web. Five native-speakers of French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian and Spanish provided their best voice for the occasion, guided by a very professional and friendly Producing Director.

      Boomerang were very pleased with BLS's work:

    • March 2010: BLS Moves to Cardiff

      Based in Abergavenny for more than 15 years, Business Language Services (BLS) Ltd. is now making the move to the Welsh capital as part of its overall expansion programme. Business at BLS has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, with increased levels of turnover and profitability, and the company continues to thrive in spite of the recent recession. A decision has, therefore, been made to upgrade to larger, more modern premises in Cardiff, which will give BLS the opportunity to continue its dynamic plans for growth.

      BLS, established as a family business in 1990, has now become one of the leading language service providers in Wales. The company is looking to expand its workforce in order to keep up with the ever increasing demand for its translation, interpreting and training services. The new premises occupy a prime location in the heart of Cardiff city centre and will be more accessible for customers. The move will coincide with the launch of a redesigned, more user-friendly, multi-language website, and represents the start of an exciting new chapter.

    • November 2009: Business French Training for the Welsh Assembly Government

      BLS have this month completed a French business training course for the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff. The course was designed as a 20-hour refresher course for five post A-level students held over a two month period, mainly covering business topics. Judging by the feedback received, the students found the course both useful and enjoyable - with every feedback form giving the course an overall rating of 'Excellent'. Comments included 'Extremely clear explanations', 'I've learnt / refreshed far more than I thought I would!' and 'Very pleased that we decided on BLS to run this course'.

    • November 2009: The Export Factor

      BLS are delighted to have been invited to hold a stand at 'The Export Factor' event in Worcester on 11 November. The event focused on the opportunities and issues facing companies as the pressure to create new customers and markets in 2010 grows. The Minister for Trade, Mervyn Davies, visited the event and provided a keynote address.

    • November 2009: ReAct –Training Course

      In an increasingly competitive job market, there is little doubt that learning a new language or improving foreign language skills will open up many more job opportunities. Business Language Services is always looking to work with individuals and organisations to promote the development of foreign language skills in the UK, particularly in Wales. Learning a new language provides a wealth of opportunities on many levels, not just for the individual’s personal development, but also for businesses looking to venture into foreign markets and create worldwide business development opportunities. We are, therefore, very pleased to learn that one of our trainees has now received funding through the ReAct Scheme. The training department at BLS is delighted to have been chosen as the provider of this course. We believe our bespoke language training service directly meets the language-specific requirements of our trainees and is focused on achieving specific business objectives to benefit individuals and businesses alike.

    • October 2009: Re-branding & Website

      Over the last few months you may have noticed changes to the Business Language Services website. We are in the process of re-branding and creating a new website in collaboration with Coolbox. The most notable changes so far are our new logo, fluid book brochure and instant quote tool. We would be delighted to know what you think! Our new website should be up and running in the New Year and will incorporate a user friendly interface and provide a more comprehensive overview of the services we provide, which will help us to continue delivering the high-quality service on which our reputation is based.

    • October 2009: BLS resumes Language Classes at the Intellectual Property Office

      BLS has been providing the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) in Newport with languages for almost five years. We are delighted to be resuming our French and German classes with the IPO this month following the summer break.

    • September 2009: BLS wins European Local Government Chief Executives (UDiTE) Contract

      In a prestigious contract win for BLS, the company has been appointed Official Language Translation Service Provider to UDiTE, the Federation of European Union Local Authority Chief Executive Officers.

      As part of the contract, BLS will start by translating the UDiTE website into Czech and Spanish. Over time, BLS can also expect to translate the website into 8 or 9 additional languages, and will be responsible for the translation of all updates, newsletters and press articles.     • September 2009: BLS to Provide Language Training to Welsh Assembly Government

      Business Language Services is to provide Business French training to the European and External Affairs division of the Welsh Assembly Government in Cardiff. This exciting new opportunity builds on the many years' experience we have providing the Welsh Assembly with interpreting and translation services.

    • August 2009: BLS secures teaching contract at EADS Defence & Security Systems Ltd

      BLS has been appointed to provide two English as a Foreign Language courses for German staff and two German courses for UK staff at their Newport plant.

      Also this month, BLS has resumed delivery of its ongoing beginners' French language tuition for Norgine.

    • July 2009: BLS Provides Translation and Voicemail Services to Merthyr Valleys Homes Ltd

      BLS are delighted to announce their appointment as providers of translation and voicemail services to Merthyr Valleys Homes, a new social landlord for around 5,000 properties in the Merthyr Tydfil area.

      BLS will be providing and managing freephone telephone lines in Welsh, Polish and Portuguese. Each telephone line will connect to a pre-recorded greeting in the appropriate language. BLS will translate each voicemail message into English and send to Merthyr Valleys Homes, then translate their response back into the original language of the message.
