Originally established as a family business in 1990, Business Language Services Ltd. is now one of the leading language service providers in Wales. We moved to new offices in the Welsh capital in March 2010 to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for our translation, interpreting and training services. Now occupying a prime location in the heart of Cardiff city centre, we are much more accessible and offer state-of-the-art facilities to our customers.

We are a full member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC) and a Corporate Member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (ITI).

THE TEAM

Our team is passionate about language. We have a reliable team of full-time staff, including experienced translators, interpreters and tutors covering several European languages. We also work with a broad network of specialist linguists, many of whom have been with us since we started out.

KEY MEMBERS

Managing Director: Adam Burman
Adam is a successful MBA (Masters in Business Administration), fluent in Spanish having lived and studied in Seville (Spain) and San Sebastian (Basque Country) for many years. He speaks several European languages, including French and some Italian and Portuguese. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Spanish, he later completed his MBA at Kent Business School and the University of Deusto (San Sebastian). Adam worked as a management accountant for an industrial holding company and as a professional Spanish to English translator for many years. He is a full member of the Institute of Linguists (MCIL). Amongst his other duties, Adam is ultimately responsible for the overall management of the company, with specific focus on the supervision of all translation work carried out at BLS.
Qualifications: BA (Hons) Spanish, MBA, MCIL, TEFL (Certificate of Teaching English as a Foreign Language), Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD)

Senior Project Manager: Kate Figueredo
Kate studied Spanish at the Universities of Salamanca (Spain) and Southampton before moving to South America to teach English as a Foreign Language. She is fluent in Spanish and also speaks Italian and Portuguese. As well as managing multi-language projects, she undertakes Spanish to English translations, and proofreads and edits English and Spanish texts.
Qualifications: BA (Hons) Spanish, MA Translation with Language Technology, CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults), SDL certified

Senior Project Manager: Amy Kilby
Amy studied French and German at Cardiff University, including spending a year at the University of Nantes and Berlin Technical University. She then completed a Master’s degree in Translation Studies with the University of Bristol. Amy project manages multilingual projects, translates documents of various types from German and French into English and proof reads translations.
Qualifications: BA (Hons) French & German, MA Translation Studies.

Project manager: Gwenllian Jones
Gwenllian studied French, German and Spanish at Bangor University. She then went on to complete her MA in Translation Studies at Cardiff University in 2012. Gwenllian is a native speaker of Welsh and English. She assists with the management of projects and undertakes translation and proof reading work in the languages mentioned above.

Accounts Manager: Elizabeth Copner
Elizabeth is responsible for the day to day operation of the company finances.
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, she is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT)
